Smoke
Unedited with explicit language
Smoke was growing tired of this shit. He had better things to do than watch one of his workers be beaten senseless. This, however, was necessary. If there was one thing Smoke didn’t tolerate, it was disrespect. No matter the form, disrespect of any kind led to anyone being dealt with. One of the quickest ways for Smoke to feel disrespected was to not obey his commands. It didn’t happen often, but sometimes, a motherfucker was either too bold or too damn stupid and would try him.
Today, that motherfucker was Isaac.
Isaac was a corner boy who worked his way up to lieutenant over the course of two years. He’d always been hungry, but Smoke felt he was too greedy. In this business, greed was a setup for your downfall. In Isaac’s case… his greed led him to sell prescription pills… to Smoke’s customers, on his block, nonetheless.
Every time Smoke thought about it, he’d get angry all over again.
“Enough,” he ordered, just above a whisper, but his team was so in sync with him they heard and understood his command.
Smoke’s head tilted as he looked Isaac’s body over. Crouched in a fetal position, his body shook as he heaved and coughed up blood. Smoke sauntered over to him, walking just as slowly as he spoke. He was never the kind of man to rush – the earth even moved at his command. Smoke didn’t consider himself God, but he fully took advantage of the godlike qualities and power that he had inside of him.
Squatting, Smoke turned Isaac over to his back with the butt of his G19 Glock.
“What were you thinking?” Smoke asked, looking over Isaac’s bloody body. His head shook as he rolled his tongue over his cheek. “Did you really think I wouldn’t find out?”
Isaac opened his mouth to reply, coughing up more blood instead. There was no doubt in Smoke’s mind that he had some broken ribs and was bleeding internally too. Soon… he’d be out of his misery… but there was one thing Smoke needed to know first.
“Who is your supplier?”
Isaac’s eyes widened before they sealed shut. His head shook as he inhaled short, choppy breaths.
“Isaac,” Smoke called, but it was more of a calm warning.
“I can’t tell you. If he finds out, he’ll kill me.”
Smoke chuckled as he looked up at his business partner and close friend, Montego. Montego’s head tilted as he cocked his gun. All he needed was one word and he was ready to send a bullet through Isaac’s brain.
“If you don’t tell me, I’ll kill you. Now…” Smoke paused. Smiled. “Who do you think you need to fear most?”
Isaac looked away, only letting a second pass before he muttered, “Simeon.”
“Call him.”
The moment Isaac jerked his head back in Smoke’s direction he winced. “I—I ca—”
Smoke shoved his gun into his mouth, unmoved by the tears that slid down his face. “I wasn’t asking.” Lowering himself to Isaac’s ear, he whispered, “Don’t make me have to say it again.”
